Italian Francesco Mugnai has always been interested in the way people interact with computers through
design, and was naturally drawn to web design. "I began as a freelance designer for companies in major
Italian cities across many different industries. I have designed textiles and also print advertising but it is the
web where I feel my creativity really explodes." One of those rare types that gets a kick out of both the design
and development processes, he has produced some absolutely awesome graphical art – just check out
his portfolio and you’ll see what we mean (his Bare Skin piece is our desktop wallpaper of the month). His
own website is clean, simple and to the point, but he’s managed to use what little graphical content there
is to an impressive end, and rounds it up nicely by bringing Java/MooTools animation to the mix, in a style a
little reminiscent of the Orange Unlimited viral. Currently working for the Lorenzo de’ Medici Arts Institute in
Florence, don’t be surprised if you see his handicraft on magazine covers very, very soon.
