06 Shadow

152-052-step006

Select the Free Transform tool, then rotate the bg drawing object so it looks like it’s falling off the wall. Do the same with the text field. Create another layer, this time under the previous two, and call it ‘shadow’. Draw a rectangle in grey and then double-click it, add a fill colour of grey but set the alpha to 40 per cent. Save and place on the stage.

07 Import images

152-052-step007

Next up is importing the images you want to use in the timeline. Size these PNG files beforehand, otherwise your SWF file will be very large when you come to view it on the internet. Select File>Import>Import to Library. Note you will have two files: a bitmap and a graphic. You need to use the graphic. Import three in total for this tutorial.

08 Darkness

152-052-step008

Create a new layer called ‘darkness’. Create a Movie Clip called ‘wallmask’, and inside this, draw a black rectangle larger than the main stage. Draw another rectangle that is slightly smaller and a different colour, then delete the smaller one, leaving a hole. Go back to the main timeline and add a Blur filter to the Movie Clip.

09 Picture frame

152-052-step009

Navigate back to the main timeline and create a new Movie Clip called ‘frame’. Draw the outline first and then give a bright fill colour to make it cartoon-like. When drawing the frame, remember that you will need to stretch and rotate for some of your pictures. This one was drawn with a number of eclipses overlapping.

10 Bear

152-052-step010

One of our imported pictures was a koala bear, so the first portrait will be of him. Create a new Movie Clip and call it ‘bear_mc’. Inside the Movie Clip, add the frame you just created on the first layer – in our case, we have to rotate 90 degrees CW – then create another three layers called ‘surround’, ‘image’ and ‘mask’.
