Another month and we have yet another collection
of digital inspiration for you to feast your eyes upon. This
month we have a range of sites that take you from the
slick to the abstract, with plenty of fun to be had along the
way. Sit back, enjoy, and tell us what you think!
This online portfolio was a real hit among the Web Designer
team this month, as it’s one that is very slick with plenty of
flair. While it possesses a kind of laid-back quality, the overall
interactive experience is effortless. Art Streiber is a highly
talented and successful freelance photographer based in
Hollywood, and has worked for plenty of big-name clients
from Vanity Fair to Dreamworks. His quality of image-making
is here for all to see and the site has complemented this with
its stylish presentation of his very best work.
So how are your New Year’s resolutions going?
If you’re finding it hard to keep on track, then a
visit to this fun website may help you along. This
community-based site has been built on the
fantastic idea of having a resolution coach. On
signing up with your very own resolution, you
are assigned a coach and as soon as a new user
signs up, you become that person’s coach. The
site is colourful and very easy to use, and you can
have lots of fun by kicking other users during
your interaction.
Yet another quirky and stylised illustrative website from Japan, where this interactive microsite for a fast-food
restaurant based in Singapore educates, promotes and entertains for a global audience. This site is very userfriendly
and you navigate from the home page by turning the planet around on its axis to find your desired
location. After selection, you will experience a feast of interactive stories and information about the menus
available from the restaurant, all presented in an inoffensive and fun storybook-like manner.
Here we have the award-winning site from DuPont, designed to
educate and inform you in the regard of their product processes
through the direction of the food chain. The site boasts some slick
interactive and navigational elements laid over large imagery
and video, with excellent uses of sound helping to create a highly
visual and somewhat playful user experience. Some of the images’
resolution lets the site down a little, as does the pixelation of the
video due to their size and you wonder if a similar feat could have
been achieved using smaller clips, however, the site still commands
a great deal of presence regardless and achieves its main task of
encouraging you to learn more about them.
In the freezing temperatures of winter, we thought that
we would bring a little sun to our Gallery pages with this
online portfolio of swimsuit creator and designer, Claudie
Song. We particularly liked this site for its high quality of
imagery, but mainly its excellently executed interactive
elements. Content-wise, the site is again designed simply
to present a body of original works to the world, and uses
a thumbnail navigation with enlarged image previewers
that are cleanly cut for better impact.
