Redstation, a Hampshire based ISP specialising in providing dedicated servers and colocation services to an international customer base, are looking to engage with a UK based Web design and Marketing specialist for the design and implementation of a new corporate brand, website, and marketing strategy.

A brief history of the company
Redstation was established in 1998 and today hosts thousands of websites and servers for clients in more than 50 countries. From the British Government to international corporations to local businesses, Redstation provides fast and reliable hosting solutions to fit all budgets.

Redstation is constantly improving its range of web hosting products and its business strategy of combining international scale with local presence was specifically developed to serve the needs of small and medium sized businesses. Continual investment in technology enables Redstation to provide a robust, high quality service – giving clients a complete and evolving range of business solutions.

In 2007 Redstation opened the first Redstation Rackcentre – a £2 million custom-built data centre in Gosport, Hampshire.

In August 2010, Redstation launched a second £3.2 million data centre. The state of the art 5,000sq ft facility is designed, built and purchased outright by Redstation. The new facility, which is roughly double the size of the existing data centre, makes use of the latest technology including Free Cooling © from GEA Denco to make it a much greener Data Centre.

What’s driving the expansion, what exactly is ‘colocation’, and why are local businesses clamouring to jump on board?

“New business is coming from clients who want to move their IT services online, to compete in the global ‘always online’ marketplace,” explains Redstation’s Managing Director Martin Groom.

“Increasingly, SMEs feel it’s no longer acceptable to run critical email and business services on PCs cluttered under a desk at the back of the office: the equipment ties up space, and mission-critical data and hardware can be very vulnerable to power cuts, burglary or even fire.”

Colocating equipment in Redstation’s secure, temperature-controlled data centres circumnavigates these problems.

“The benefits are far-reaching,” says Martin. “For example, one client moved his equipment into our facility and used the space he saved to seat two new sales staff! We have the latest environmentally friendly cooling systems, plus fire detection and suppression systems, backup generators, and high capacity circuits to London offering super fast connectivity.  And all of this is monitored 24/7 by our staff for complete peace of mind.”

Redstation has also given a boost to the local economy: the lion’s share of its recent expansion was contracted to Hampshire suppliers, and five new staff are being recruited to support the growth.

Working closely with Gosport Borough Council, Redstation are sponsoring the 2010 Gosport Business awards which focuses on rewarding business excellence, and will “recognise companies whose innovation has ensured their survival during the economic downturn”.
